Established in 2015, Alex Pettas Architecture (APA) is a versatile architecture firm with experience in single family, multifamily, workplace and retail projects. We trace our roots through a California modernism that balances form, materiality and a sensitivity to the natural environment. We work closely with our clients to understand their desires and translate them into built form. The office is dedicated to finding innovative solutions to the design commissions that our clients entrust us with.
We are currently working on projects in Brentwood, the Hollywood Hills, Nashville and San Francisco.

Alex was raised in the U.S., Greece and Italy, and has lived or worked in Japan, Spain, Australia and the Netherlands. In 2006, he received a Master of Architecture degree from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc). Prior to establishing APA, he worked in the offices of Marmol Radziner (Los Angeles), Macy Architecture (San Francisco) and RoTo Architects (Los Angeles). Alex oversees the process of every project in the studio from conception to completion.
Megan joined APA as a senior project manager in 2021. She has also worked for Marmol Radziner, MASASTUDIO and Coop Himmelb(l)au. Megan received a Master of Architecture from Cal Poly and a Bachelor of Environmental Design from North Carolina State University. Her experience includes custom residences, mixed-use multi-family, high-rise mixed-use and high-end hospitality projects. She aspires to design spaces that are both beautiful and innovative.
Mariya joined APA shortly after receiving her Master of Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc). At APA, Mariya has honed her technical and problem-solving skills on custom residences and mixed-use multi-family projects. Her passion for design comes from a desire to create thoughtful spaces that are timeless and connect with their users.
Ruri joined APA after receiving a Master of Architecture from the University of Southern California in 2022. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Studies from Washington State University. Prior to moving to Los Angeles, she interned in Tokyo at a design studio focused on custom residences.
Currently in her final year of the Master of Architecture program at UCLA, Jocelyn joined APA as an intern in 2022. She is passionate about designing spaces that foster user engagement and community building. She looks forward to continued growth and learning in the field of architecture.
Terumi has been managing the office administration, accounting, and human resources at APA since 2016. Born in San Francisco and raised in Tokyo, she has lived across the U.S. since her high school years including in Austin, Boston, NYC, San Francisco and her current home in Los Angeles. Away from APA she is a mother of two teenagers and enjoys cooking and gardening. Her background is in counseling psychology and she is a licensed MFT.
